Composites are materials consisting of at least two components joined together, such as fibers and the surrounding matrix. Combining two different materials achieves enhanced properties in the composite compared to each of the individual components on its own.
Composites are already in use in a number of areas, including aviation and aerospace, automotive, boat construction and sports applications.
